Date Posted: 23:48:34 07/02/03 Wed This years Tooheys competition has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. All clubs are stronger (maybe the 'burg and the Cougars are doing it a bit tough). New players, great skills on display, big crowds etc. But theres always got to be a rotten apple trying to spoil the barrel, and yes, it's the substandard refereeing. What a woeful lot, especially those masquerading as first grade refs. They really do spoil good games by inept, incorrect and fathomless decisions and if it's not them making a mistake there are two others on the touchline giving a helping hand. These whistle happy bad judges (all 3 officials) get too much money to continue spoiling fans afternoon out by performing mediocrely week in week out. Maybe they should take a leaf out of the Illawarra Rugby Union referees, learn the rules and accept expenses only. Either that or give it away, what a useless lot they are.
