Date Posted: 16:56:54 04/28/03 Mon Buthcher legend Keith 'Titsa' Lindsay has hit out at suggestions that the the Butchers have fallen victims to their own publicity. In recent weeks Titsa's jibes on the weight and nocturnal activities of key Butcher players has stung the club. Coach Brett 'Flounder' Jones said, "Titsa's comments have stung the boys and in their depression they have been a little on the tooth. Unfortunately the foodfest have caused Titsa's comments to ring true and the pounds have started to come on. Despite this, my ban on fast food outlets has merely been an attempt for the boys to eat at the Ryan's Pub to keep our sponsors happy." Jones also quashed rumours that the club was going to use its $20,000 windfall to buy out the Woonona Shamrocks Rugby Club. "No truth in it at all. Why spend money on the joint when we can already get their best players for free. Besides, they can get a new ground and build a $300,000 clubhouse. We can't even get a new pie oven for the Gibson Park canteen." Jones hinted that the club was looking forward to meeting former star Martin Sedgwick in a Wollongong Bulls uniform. "Sedge has been talking about playing against us for 10 years and he has finally gotten around to it. If he's not one of us anymore than he is just another player and as World Country Champions we are above his antics." Titsa Lindsay has responded to coach Jones by adding, "Flounder may have led them to the World Country Champions title, but there are certainly cracks in the walls at Gibson Park. As a club stalwart I am surprised that the club's sponsors are their undoing. Back in my day sponsors gave us money to stay away from their establishment. Unfortunately we have a bunch of pampered players whose fragile state is driven by food and money. And, as for that stuff about the Rah Rah boys, what nonsense. Those Shamrocks are the same people who stole Chris Doyle and gave us Matt Roodenrys in return. Pinching Ben Morgan is just the start. I can see the day that we will be using their Ocean Park complex for training and saving Gibbo Stadium for Saturdays. Our arena will be a showpiece and people will come for miles to see the boys bury that turncoat Sedgwick." [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
