He dips is muzzle into the cool water. He looks up and spots the mare. He gallops across the river towards her. He rears up and his golden coat glistens under the sun. He looks very mighty, majestic, and handsome. He smiles at her. "Hello Twilight. Have you got a herd?"

She started at the sudden voice, tossing her head and taking a few steps back. Seeing the mascu, she calmed herself down and gave him a small smile of her own
"Not quite yet."
she replied, voice musical and quiet, yet ringing out clearly.

Spirit takes a few steps back, afraid he might scare her away. A mighty stallion like him knows not to scare a mare. He neighs to her softly and stamps his hoof hard on the ground.
"What do you think of the Yarrow Plain Herd? Do you like it? It promises the highest protection."
His voice is filled with kindness and strength. A very promising leader.

Her eyes flashed with amusement when she saw the stallion's reaction, but she couldn't blame him, she did act like a nervous wreck. Considering deeply the herd and protection he offered, she nodded her head slightly
"From what I observe, it is a good herd."

Spirit approaches her slowly with caution, hopeing not to scare her. He stops just 2 feet away from her. "Well I think it's a grand herd. And since you like it, how would you like to be a part of it? I promise, not even the greatest horses will get past me. My herd is my top priority. I will even give my live for my mares. A stallion is allowed to claim a mare he wants and she'll have to follow him even if she doesn't want to. But I'm not that type. I'm generously giving you a choice. Do you accept my offer?" His voice is very soothing and calm. He perks up his ears and waits for an answer. Sweat trickles down his forehead and drips into the river. He waits nervously.

Weighing his words and finding them sincere, she dipped her dial and gave her answer
"I accept with thanks."
she said simply.

His neigh echoes in the distance. He drops back on his front hooves. He smiles widely. "Great! You don't have to stay in then Sugar Tops now. You can roam. You're my new mare! Since you agree, I claim you. You now belong to the Yarrow Plains Herd." Spirit rears up again and neighs.

She smiled at Spirit's elation and nodded calmly in return
"Very well, shall I meet you there?"
Not waiting for his reply, she turned around and accelerated. The wind whipped her mane back as she fair flew across the terrain, hoves pounding mercilessly at the ground. She threw a look back at Spirit, wondering if he would follow.

Spirit neighs to her worriedly. "I'm sorry dear Twilight. But I've just received news that one of my mares in in trouble. I'll have to find her. I'll have to leave you now. But I'll come back. GoldenWings will watch over you." Spirit neighs again and speeds off.

She halted, slightly dissapointed, but understanding nonetheless,
"Good luck."
she called out to his back, then proceeded on her way again.

Spirit sighs, knowing she is upset. But he has to protect his herd as he had promised. He sends GoldenWings to watch over her.
