TBL NEWS
6/11/03
by the Associated Press

The NL played two games and continued their streak of invincibility over their counterparts the FL and AL. The FL continued their woeful season only mustering up one run and showed little heart in what was a very meaningful game. Matt Eagleton continued his shaky rookie campaign going hitless as did Million Dollar Man Greg Douglas who went 0-5 and continues not to earn his paycheck. The FL has 4 games to go and is going to need more of a miracle than last season to pull this one out. The difference between this years team and last years simply comes down to heart. Going into the 6th inning down only 4 runs this team rolled over and died. As of right now they do not deserve to make the playoffs. NL seemed to be in control the whole game and Gary Lawrence lead the way and continued his hot hitting.
The NL vs. AL matchup was a thriller that came down to the NL's last at bat with Gary Lawrence providing the game winning hit with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th inning giving the NL the 9-8 win. The AL showed tremendous heart only going with 4 guys and lead most of the game. Niesz had a huge 3 run homer, and Moroney and Colfort played excellent but it just wasnt enough. First round pick Richie Pags continued his huge slump going a nasty 0-9. The FL and AL are practically even fighting for the last playoff spot with the NL having the rest of the season on cruise control. The AL has shown incredible heart this season over coming injuries and what not to put a good product on the feild while the FL has shown little of what brought them the title last year...heart. The FL better take the AL seriously and stop their gutless play or else it will be the defending champs looking from the outside in.
