Subject: Like a Hermit by Sir Walter Raleigh (online sound poem)

Life can sometimes be so filled with dissapointments that like Sir Walter Raleigh 1552 - 1618 our minds too can turn to thoughts of the simple life of a hermit where only our memories and thoughts can fill our days. Alas surely in reality solitude alone cannot bring us happiness and the true hermit must surely have to put to rest the angst that first led them to running away from human society before finding the peace of mind that they are seeking.

Heres a link to the page where you can listen online to this and many other classic poems set to music...

And for my light in such obscurėd shade,
The flames shall serve wich from my heart arise.

A gown of gray my body shall attire,
My staff of broken hope whereon I'll stay;
Of late repentance linked with long desire
The couch is framed whereon my limbs I'll lay;

And at my gate despair shall linger still
To let in death when love and fortune will
