I have a shar-pei who doesn't have a skin problem but I do have a beagle with a huge problem. Her blood tests show a high allergy to dustmite (she does not live in the house) I clean her area daily but to no avail. I changed her diet many times taking out beef totally etc etc. She is now on permanent medication and it will probably shorten her life to a degree but I believe 10 years of a non itching life is better than 16 itchy years. Unfortunately you probably will have a yearly vet bill with your dog but he/she will be happier without a sore red itchy skin. Good luck.
