I followed this trail in the downhill direction maybe 30 years ago after bushwhacking over from Hogsback, at that time it was still being unofficially maintained. The FS is cracking down on unofficial trails and the guy who was doing it went to Africa so I doubt its condition will get any better.

Sorry I don't know any more, have you thought about bushwhacking uphill from where you lost it and hoping to find it again at the base of the cliffs?
