This message is typical of the one-size-fits-all mentality about dogs. Do you think that an irresponsible dog owner is going to think your message applies to them?

My dog has near-perfect trail manners. Never bites or threatens, does not chase wildlife, stays on the trail, stays close, never jumps on people, ignores other dogs. Rarely requires her leash. Has been known to bark occasionally. Has been beaten up by dogs of irresponsible owners.

Yet, I hear this message all the time - dog should be on a leash. Baloney!

Oh, I'm sorry, your message is to "darn dogs". I guess that does not include mine. Sorry!
