Thanks, especially for the hug.
We didn't get much planted this year, but we have 2 tomato plants, a zuchini (sp?) and a couple yellow squash. Gardening here is less than ideal and everyone is very sceptical when we talk about planting a big garden because it's a short season, hot, dry etc, etc. However we bought a ton of seeds this year thinking we'd be up to planting sooo NEXT year we're going to try corn (I found a short season corn-58 days!) potatos, cucumbers, tomatos (we have to get them about gallon size from the green house, but they had a delicious heirloom variety Black Krim that we love. They're kind of a weird purple color--a red-purple and the tops aren't letting go of their green coloring, but they're producing and we're loving it), onions, and some herbs. Some day we're hoping to try fruit trees but that's trickier. Big plans. :) This year we have tilled up half of our yard thinking we'd re-seed it with grass, but we're thinking it's going to be garden next year. My sister in law had raised beds but put so much rabbit and chicken manure on them that they were too hot to grow anything (even weeds!). We took out the wood intending to spread the manure over the entire garden, but so far we haven't been able to get that far. Right now we're distracted with trying to get tipi poles ready in the next couple of weeks. We (ok Wade) chopped 20 tall skinny trees down on Saturday. I limbed and helped carry them to the trailer. It was a hot day of hard work. We were on a big atv trail so I'd be with Britt at the truck waving at the ATV parade going by. Then Wade and I'd switch places and I get to get out of the dust to go limb the trees. Now we have to strip the bark and get them trimmed down to the right size with a draw knife. Anyway it was kind of fun. The overnight with Britt wasn't so great. He did so good camping on our Spokane trip we thought he'd be ok. Nope. To top it off we couldn't find a good camping spot so we pitched our tent on the trailer. It was an adventure though. :)
I wanted to give you a "power shake" recipe. We found it in a book a friend gave us. It's 1/4 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup milk, 1 banana and fill the blender up with strawberries. I like to use frozen strawberries, but you can use fresh if you want. It's sooo good and always perks me up when my steam is low. It makes enough for 2 8 ounce glasses. Anyway, very nice for hot days and days when you need an extra burst of energy without the quick burn of refined sugar.
