Those are all fun books! It's funny because some of Britt's favorites are really awful. We have one based on Thomas the train that is so.....well colloquial in the worst sense I think. Ironically it's also difficult to read aloud. On the other side when I've tried to move him out of board books (quite prematurely) he loved Mailing May by Tunnell (he's a BYU children's lit prof). My theory is that Ted Rand as an illustrator is fantastic and there's a little girl face frequently involved. He loves faces. He also likes Quick as a Cricket, Blue's Clues Shape Detectives, Jamberry, an encyclopedia and Smile. Smile was the first book I read to him. We got it in the hospital and I couldn't let his first day of life go by without a book so we read it. It's a great book that's just kids smiling the text is simple: Look at the Birdie! Come on say cheese. Give me a smile will you please? A laugh, a giggle, a chuckle or two, even a little grin will do.

Maybe that's why he is so quick to smile.
