 Are you all on vacation? I'm jealous. :)

I'm just sitting at work wishing I were on vacation and feeling a little full from the mint chocolate chip shake I had for lunch (really healthy, I know). This morning I had a craving for an ice cream shake and so at lunchtime I spend a ridiculous amount of time driving through icky construction to find a place that made shakes.

Anyway, you can tell things are really exciting in my life right now. :) Nothing much going on with me, but Ryan is almost done with school so he's busy trying to find a job and that's a little stressful. It wouldn't be stressful if it was just an issue of a job because I get paid well so the money isn't a big problem, but he needs to get a job so we can have health insurance. Here's the problem: I don't get health benefits with my work and I was on my parents' insurance until we got married, then I was able to go onto a COBRA plan that let me keep the same benefits for 6 months after getting married. Ryan is also on a COBRA continuation plan from his parents' insurance but that lasts for 36 months so he's okay for a while but it's super expensive--almost $400 a month! We looked into buying health insurance on our own and submitted an application to IHC and Blue Cross, but we were denied. Flat out denied. They said Ryan and I are too costly to insure, even though I offered to pay higher premiums for less coverage. Isn't that awful?? Just because of my allergy and asthma (not to mention my heart surgery and Ryan's back problems). They said they automatically deny anyone taking more than 2 allergy or asthma medications. 2!!! I take 4. Anyway, so my COBRA plan expires September 1st and I'm the type of person who has to have health insurance because I have so many problems on a regular basis (and take lots of drugs). So Ryan needs to find a job soon otherwise we're going to be in trouble. And I know with most jobs it can take a couple months before the benefits kick in. So we could be without insurance for a while anyway. We're a little stressed about that . . .
