Okay, before I go into what I've been doing, a few messages for everyone:
Chiska--HAPPY WEDDING!!! You'll probably be married for a while before you get this, but I'm thinking of you. Send me your address when you get settled so I can send you your gift.
Kiersten--Grad school sounds fun!!! Don't worry about teaching! Just don't be very nice for the first couple of weeks. :) Just kidding. They'll be so worried about their own homework and taking notes that they won't even notice your nervousness.
Em--SOOO exciting about your house! Dave and I daydream about things like more square footage and dishwashers.
Elisa--Dave asked a member of the bishopric in NYC where to get his suits, and he said that we should just go over to Milan while we're in London. And he wasn't kidding. I think we're a long way from Milan, but maybe ebay...
Christine--How's home? Did you see Shakespeare in Central Park yet?
Okay, so my family has been here for the past two weeks, so that has been kind of crazy. We had a great time, but I'm kind of glad they're gone now. :)
The day they got in we took a cruise to Greenwich for the afternoon. We went to the Observatory and spent a little time in the National Maritime Museum.
The next day we went to Paris for four days. We saw all of the major sights--Notre Dame, the Louvre, Versailles, the Eiffel Tower. Ate a lot of crepes. I also saw the Rodin museum, which was cool, and we even had time for half a day at EuroDisney. Always fun.
We spent the next week busy with London. I finally got to go on the London Eye, and it was really cool. We went at night when everything was lit up and took a ton of pictures. We also took 2 day trips that I've never taken. We went to Windsor to see the castle. Really cool. The royal family has some pretty posh art, like drawings by Da Vinci and stuff. We also went to Bath. The Roman baths are very cool. I wanted to go in them. We had lunch at Sally Lunn's house, which I remember someone--was it Launa?--saying that they really liked. I also had a short visit to the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. They had a woman give a little talk about her life, a movie, and some displays about her life in Bath, dress and customs during her time, etc. I bought my 12 year old sister her very first copy of P&P.
They left this morning, so I have 3 more weeks and 12 more days on my rail pass. So a lot of daytrips to do!!
Hope you are all doing well. I wish you were here to play with me!
Jess
