>You wanna see a movie with really BAD dialect???? See
>the Book of Mormon movie!!! Don't even get me started
>there!!!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna go ahead and take your word on that one. I laughed my head off so many times at the previews I saw on TV, I knew there was no way it could be good. My favorite was this close up of Nephi, with one tear twinkling in his eye....oh, I nearly fell off the couch laughing.

>But that was the price they were
>willing to (sadly) pay. And I think Shyamalan wants
>you to see that. The idea that these people created
>this town because of the loss of their loved ones in
>the past and yet they are willing to risk their own
>loved ones now to maintain their way of life.
But why?? This is what I don't understand. Why does Shyamalan want me to see people who are paying the very price they went there to escape paying? What is accomplished by this? What is he trying to say? What's his point? Is he trying to say, "We're all evil at heart?" I don't think so, and I don't think you think so either. Or is he saying, "There's no escape from the evils of the world?" I hope not. Or is he being way over-political and saying, "Look what our leaders are doing, hurting us under the guise of trying to save us." I really hope not. But whichever it is, why? Why so terribly pessimistic? What's the point?

>I haven't thought this much about a movie in a while!
Me either! It's fun to really dissect things sometimes.

>He has had a lot
>to live up to.
I agree with you there, though I really tried to come to this movie not thinking about his past work. Even though that's probably impossible. I did like Sixth Sense, and I hated Unbreakable, and was kinda lukewarm on Signs. So I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this one. I almost feel bad for the guy, he's got to live up to himself!

>See the Book of Mormon movie so we can bash it together!!!!
Heeheee. Just thinking about it makes me laugh!

What I think is the most interesting about this discussion we've had is that we see a lot of the same points in the movie, we just see them in completely different ways. Like, we interpret their actions in similar ways but those then turn out to be so different to us! Does that make sense? I just think it's really interesting what big differences two slightly different perspectives can come up with.
