So, I thought I'd post, and maybe you will post too!

"A Place on Earth" by Wendell Berry.

I love this book. It makes me want to move to Kentucky and live on a farm on a hillside overlooking a river valley, with cows and sheep and fruit trees. This book is so beautifully written, I liked it from the beginning, but as it goes on I just love it more--I feel attached to the characters and their lives.

It is not a book to read if you're in a hurry and you want to read something that's a page turner. This is a book to be read slowly, to devour every detail, to stop and imagine the landscape he is describing. It is so beautiful, sometimes I feel like I'm reading poetry.

So, if you get in the mood to read a beautiful book (I would maybe compare it to "The Prodigal Summer" by Kingsolver), pick this one up. It would be a great cabin read.

I've never read Wallace Stegner, but he gives this book a great review on the back cover, and it makes me think I need to read Wallace Stegner next, "Angle of Repose" is his most famous, right? Have any of you read it?
