I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! HOORAY!!!! Jess, it just gets better and better and better (but it might have to get a little bit worse first--the pregnancy that is).

I was a lucky case and wasn't more than average sick. I found that all I wanted to do was lie still on the couch and watch TV to take my mind off the sickness. But, when Joe draged me out to be social, it took my mind off it more. Go see movies while you can! ;-)

I'd buy granola bars to keep in my purse, in the car, in my desk at work (I like the nature valley brand dipped in yogurt to make them palatable). I also would cut a bunch of carrot sticks in advance and put them in sandwich bags ready to go. I liked them because they were fresh and sweet but bland enough--that helped. And grapes. I didn't have any appetite for sweets until my third tri-mester, then I LOVED chocolate. I think Ruby Jane is a happy baby because I gave into my chocolate cravings.

I did get bad sciatica, so if you get that, I can sympathize!

Okay, I could go on and on, because it is so exciting and fun to talk about! But now I will tell you my favorite books (besides the given "What to Expect..."):

1. Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child (this is my most used book, I refer to it about once a month--it is more for after the baby is born)

2. The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (this is just fun and funny, and it may have a few things you don't know, but most of it you will already know)

3. Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn (this is my favorite reference book for pregnancy, I liked it even MORE than "What to Expect"--I thought it was much more helpful and easy to use, but it is also different, it feels more like a medical guide).

FINALLY, I have to put a plug in for babycenter.com as my most favorite website. I love it.

And one last thing: the Lamaze class was great--it wasn't very orthodox Lamaze, but pretty general with a few Lamaze breathing exercises, and I found it to be very helpful when I was in labor before I could get the epidural. Most hospitals won't give you the epidural until you are dialated to at least a 4, and getting to a 4 can be painful, so breathing techniques come in very handy for managing that stress!

I'm so so so so so excited for you!

P.S. Do you already have any of those books? Because I might get one for you. (NT)Emily21:10:42 04/05/06 Wed
