Hey, I also remember reading some Charles Dickens in my AP English class and i thought it was great. Jess, I think one thing that my teacher did for some of the reading assignments that you might consider was to give us a list of books that we could choose from. I think maybe one or two of the book assignments were done this way. Then we had to write a paper on those books. So, for instance, for one of these assignments I was insane and chose to read Anna Karenina, while other students chose books that were 400 pages shorter. :) Luckily I enjoyed the book so it wasn't complete torture . . .
