I totally ditto both Jess and Elisa. DUMB DUMB DUMB! Sometimes quitting ends up being the best thing a person ever did, sometimes it ends up being the biggest regret--I think it is a very tough decision to make, but I also think (like Jess mentioned) that it is a big waste of money and time to be in your position and continue school for next semester, and like Elisa said, it is DUMB!

This is what I would consider:

1. TRANSFERRING
(find out how many transfer credits USU will take, and how many transfer credits UofU and BYU will take--you may transfer permanently and graduate from somewhere else, or only transfer for a semseter. Maybe you want to go to CA for a semester, and take classes at some CA school--that could be a lot of fun, and also add variety/depth to your portfolio.)

2. SUSPENSION/SABATICAL
(I don't know a better word, but in other words, put your schooling on hold until they have classes that are directly related and useful for your degree--in the meantime, take a break for a semester or year--petition to do this with USU, find a job, relax, read, do some reflecting on life and what you really want. Do something that you've always wanted to, but isn't practical--like getting really involved with a play, or writing a play, or producing a play, or something that may be risky but might also bring you a lot of satisfaction--this is the time to do it!)

3. Think about TEACHING secondary school.
(If you taught for a year, you could use your experience as part of your thesis research. Or you might like it so much to do it long-term. I agree with Jess that you'd be good at it, you probably don't though. You might be thinking it is the last thing you want to do, but the truth is, I think you'd have a good way with the kids, and secondary school kids are so funny and goofy--sense of humor is KEY. When you don't take yourself too seriously and just enjoy them, teaching can be a lot of fun, and purposeful. You could probably find a school who is in drastic need of a drama teacher and english teacher, especially if you're willing to consider different counties to teach in. Just think, if you were the drama teacher, it would be your little kingdom, and that could be a LOT of fun! They need teachers who are available to throw themselves into it [i.e. don't have families or other obligations]. It could be VERY REWARDING!)

That's my advice. Maybe you want to open an ice cream store, this would be the time to run with that. ;-) We all support you in whatever you decide.
