Em~
It sounds fabulous! I wouldn't worry about your house. You should see what mine looks like, and I'm not pregnant!
Life in New York is not very exciting. Last night we went out to eat at Dave's favorite restaurant to celebrate his birthday, which was 2 weeks ago, because he had the flu on his birthday. We've been to this place numerous times, and he always gets the same thing: ribs. Usually they're very good, but they weren't very good last night. They looked very pink and were falling off the bone. So he sent them back and got another batch that looked the same, and the guy said that's the way they were because they're "smoked." Although we eat them a lot and they didn't taste the same. Unfortunately, the bad ribs woke him up with food poisoning last night. Very sad to get food poisoning from what used to be your favorite food. I felt bad for him.
Today I woke up early and did a little cleaning while he slept in. Then we went to look at apartments in Harlem. We found this beautiful, brand new building with a doorman and a shared courtyard terrace. We're really interested in a 2 bedroom that's about 1100 square feet with a balcony for $1800/mo. Now, in normal land, that's an exorbitant amount of money to pay for an apartment. However, in the city, one bedrooms typically go for $2500 (at least where we live), so that's what makes this particular apartment attractive. However, it is in Harlem, but in an area that's being completely redone and gentrified. The cars parked on the street ranged from SUVs to a Mercedes. So I think we're going to apply, even though we technically don't know if we're staying in New York yet. They could send us to D.C., in which case we'd look into buying a place.
Tonight we are staying home and watching TV. I really should grade papers, but I doubt that will happen.
Tomorrow is church, and we're going to a super bowl party. I actually hate football, and even Dave doesn't really care, but all our friends are going to be graduating in a few months and most of them are leaving, so we just look at it as another chance to hang out before everyone leaves.
Hope you're all doing great!
Jess
