29.0 Testing of Materials

The Main Contractor shall carry out tests on all materials required by the Architect to be tested at the Main Contractor's own expense and shall pay all charges in connection with tests ordered by the Architect to be carried out by others.

30.0 Water for the Works

The Contractor may arrange for his own water supply to carry out the Works.

Alternatively, the Contractor may choose to obtain water supply from the Employer. In such case, no claim by the Contractor for any additional payment and extension of time shall be allowed on ground of any interruption or suspension of water supply provided by the Employer. All temporary water supplies shall be connected to proper sources from the existing plumbing systems in the buildings subject to the approval of the Estate Management Office. The Contractor shall be responsible for connecting, maintaining and disconnecting the temporary water supplies in a safe and proper manner. No wastage of water is allowed.

Bills for the water consumption will be calculated according to the water meter readings and issued to the Contractor by the Employer each month. The rate of water charge will be based on the current charge of the Water Authority. The Contractor shall settle the said bills within 14 days by payment to the Employer.


PARTICULAR SPECIFICATION

31.0 General Attendance

The Main contractor shall allow for attendance, cutting away for and making good in all trades 多 in so far only as it applies to his own labour.

32.0 Clearing away rubbish during the progress of the Works

All rubbish, crates, surplus materials etc. are to be removed from the site as soon as possible and at frequent intervals during the progress of the works so as to maintain unhindered access to and easy inspection of all work. The Main Contractor shall comply with any order from the Architect in connection with the removal of rubbish or clearing the site.

All materials shall be stored on the site and in the building in a neat and orderly manner.

33.0 Protection and Cleaning of all Trades_

The Main Contractor is to amply protect all finished works including electrical and sanitary fittings, built-in fixtures, metal work, glass, tiles and other wall and floor finishing, and will be responsible for any damage caused by carelessness and negligence in this respect.

Concentrated caustic or acids shall not be used for cleaning and removal of stains. Diluted acids when used to remove cement stains shall not be allowed to run over any metal work or aluminium windows. Approved detergent should be used for cleaning bathtubs and sinks to avoid damaging the surfaces of these fittings.

At the completion of the works, clean up after all trades and remove all marks, stains, finger prints and other soil or dirt from all finished surfaces, ease and adjust all doors, windows, drawers, etc. check and oil all hardware, cut out cracks in plastering and make good, clean all wall linings, floors , and glass inside and out, touch up all painted and polished work and clean out all gutters and channels.

Clear away from the site all plant, surplus building materials earth and rubbish and leave the premises clean and fit for occupation to the entire satisfaction of the Architect.

34.0 Restriction of Advertising

No Advertising will be permitted on site.



PARTICULAR SPECIFICATION

35.0 Programme and weekly reports

The Main Contractor shall submit to the Architect for approval a detailed programme showing his intended method, sequence, stages and other of proceeding with the work together with the period of time he has estimated for each and every such stages of progress. Whilst it is not required to be submitted detailed programme will be a condition precedent to the acceptance of a Tender.

If during the course of the Contract special circumstances should arise which in the opinion of the Architect ,warrant or necessitate a revision or departure from the order of procedure as shown in the approved programme, then the Main Contractor shall accordingly' so revise his programme as the Architect may required.

In order that the programme may be maintain or amended where necessary it is incumbent upon the Main Contractor to notify the Architect whenever there is the likelihood of a delay occurring in his own work or material supplies or in those of any of his Sub-contractors.

The submission to and approval by the Architect of such programme (and revision if applicable) shall not relieve the Main Contractor of any of his duties or responsibilities under the Contract.

Submit to the Architect at weekly intervals report on the progress of the works, the type of weather throughout each day, and detailing any information required, extension of Contract Period claimed, etc.

No claims for extension of Contract Period will be considered if submitted later than fourteen days after the event. The acceptance or otherwise of such claims will be at the discretion of the Architect.

36.0 Main Contractor's claims for extras

The Main Contractor shall submit to the Architect any claims for direct loss and/or additional expense (giving full and detailed particulars of the amount claimed) to which the Main Contractor may consider himself entitled or of any extra and additional work contained in Architect's verbal instructions within twenty-one days after the event and no claim for such additional expense or extra work will be considered if submitted later than required herein.

37.0 Drawings

The drawings shall be stored in a neat and orderly manner by fixing them to sheets of hardboard, or using any other suitable system.
