The Contractor can refer to the List of Approved Proprietary Names for Painting System in Appendix IV.



SECTION 3.0


CONCRETE REPAIR


3.1Preparation of Concreje Surfaces and Reinforcement


Removal of loose, cracked, spalled, honeycombed and otherwise defective concrete to a finn, sound, alk.aline rich substrate using hand or light to medium power tools, care being taken to avoid damage to the structure


a) Identify and mark out areas of the defective concrete. The contractor
shall provide record photos and plans and obtain Surveyor's confirmation on the defective concrete identified prior to subsequent works.


b) Removal of concrete to a depth of 10 mm behind the reinforcement and 150 mm along the reinforcement to where oxidation is not more than light only.


c)Diamond saw cut edges a minimum of 5 mm deep to the prepared area
to eliminate feathered edges.


d)Remove dust and rust from the prepared surfaces using vacuum cleaning,
vigorous dry brushing or other approved methods.


e) Clean the reinforcement by appropriate means to a clean bright surface
over at least 90% of the area generally to Swedish Standard ST3.


。 Replace reinforcement which is reduced in diameter by 8% or more, or
in area 33% or more.


g) Lap new reinforcement adequately with existing reinforcement to the satisfaction of the Project Manager. Welding of mild steel reinforcement may be used only with the prior agreement of the Project Manager.


h) Remove all dust on and around the reinforcement.


i) Apply approved epoxy anti-corrosive primer to reinforcement in
accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.


j) Thoroughly wet the surface with water by spraying.
k) Apply approved primer to prepared substrate in accordance with the
manufacturer's specifications.


1) Repair area with approved polymer modified cementitious mortar system in layers (not exceeding 20mm in thickness) where necessary to build up the required thickness. Scratch successive layers to provide an interface bond and provide an additional bond coat between layers. The Contractor shall provide record photos to Surveyor after repair works.

m) Finish with a metal float to a smooth blemish free surface.

n)Cure by covering with plastic sheet, sprayed membrane or other
approvedmeans .

o) For concrete repairs exceeding an area of 1m2 the Project Manager must
be notified prior to proceeding with the repair work.

3.2Inspection

The Project Manager shall be invited to inspect all prepared works before making good and reinstatement. One clear working day shall be given in thIS respect. Work made good without prior inspection may be ordered to be removed and replaced at the Cantractor's own cost.

SECTION 4.0


REPAIR OF CRACKS


4.1Investigation


a) Investigate all visual cracks as directed by the Project Manager and repair accordance with the classification methods described in Clause 4.2.


b) Before commencement of repairs to cracks, submit for approval , details
and method statement of the materials and method to be used.


4.2Type of Member


a) Types of members to be classified as follows:-

1. (U): All concrete placed below ground level which is not part of a
water-retaining s 仕 ucture or water barrier.


2. (S) Slabs (include ribbed slabs) : Horizontal or inclined elements of concrete in which two dimensions in the horizontal or inclined plane exceed the dimension in the vertical plane.


3. (B) Beams: Horizontal elements of concrete in which one dimension in the horizontal plane exceeds the other dimension in the horizpntal plane and also exceeds the dimension in the vertical plane.


4. (W-C) Walls (W) : Vertical elements of concrete in which one dimension in the vertical plane and one dimension in the horizontal plane both exceed the other dimension in the horizontal plane.


5. Columns (C) : Vertical elements in which one dimension in the vertical plane exceeds the other two dimensions in the horizontal plane.


b) Width of Crack


The categories of crack width to be: -


F :Maximum width at any point 0.3 mm or less.


C:Maximum width at any point greater than 0.3 mm.


The width of the crack at the surface of the concrete shall be determined with the aid of a transparent sheet on which lines of different width are printed or by examining the crack with a low power microscope incorporating a measuring graticule.
