7.Peter is a chartered Civil Engineer. Whilst at a dinner party hosted by his friends Mary, Mary memtions that she intends to knock down two of the supporting walls in her very old cottage and cut away some of the roof beams. She describes what she intends, but does not show him any plans. Peter says that it should be okay. Mary carried out the demolition without consulting anyone else and without obtaining building consent from the local authority. The roof of her cottage collapses, injuring her daughter and requiring the cottage to be substantially rebuilt.
