SHade had started back when he herd Bro'Grim's question. Figuring that a little memory loss would be typical after the abuse he'd taken, he figured he'd best try to explain.

"Well, you called yourself Bro'Grim beforre," Shade offered. He had little more info to offer, after all. "Not sure where you came from--but you sorta appeared nect to is, in some kind of temporal diturbance." He though for a moment. "What's the last thing you can remember, if anything?

As the others sat down to dinner, the woman took her place at the head of the table and began her story.

"I am called Princes--er, Queen Titania, 232nd heir of the Errian family line." She spoke as one unused to her title. At one time, many centuries ago, we ruled this world and all who walked upon it: the Humans--" She pointed towards Simon, "the Elven--"she pointed at herself, "and the Faltain." She gestured towards several of their diminuitive, fairy-like guards who stood near her side. Then she looked at Simon again.

"Although you live here, it is unlikely that you've ever heard of us. But at one time, our races lived as one, and in peace. Until something happened between them--we do not know exactly what, it took place so long ago--which truggered a devestating war. Afterwards, the survivors went their seperate ways. Eventually, Humanity adopted technology as it's focus, ather than magic, and forgot completely about the Elves and the Faltain. We Evves and the Faltain knew about Humans, but the old hatreds of the war kept us from uniting with them, or even with each other. So it went on, for thousands of years--until the Invaders came.

"Together, we may have had a chance. But there were too many, too fast. The Humans were the mos numerous of the races on this world--but their magic had grown wealer over the years, and their technolog was no match for those who came from "the place beyond the skies." Any while our magic might've stood a chance, we had drifted into widly scattered groups over time, and could not form a united front in time. We Elven reconsiled our differences with the Faltain, and sought alliances with as many surviving Human communities we could find--but it was too late. Many of the Humans were killed; the rest, being used as slaves i the Invaders' fields and mines. And without their strength and numbers to aid us, we will have no chance of liberating this world. Many have trued--including my mother, the previous Queen." She looke down at her plate, not wanting to face the others. "None have returned."

After a few moments' silence, she continued. "If we are to have any hope of ever saving this world, we must free he captive Humans. Only a few safe havens such as this one remain, and it's only matter of time before these, too, are found. Then that will be the end." She sighed. "That's why we captured you. When we say that you were not of this world, we assumed the worst--and we were forced to act acordingly. Should this stronghold fall...

"And now that we are satisfied whose side you're on--I have a favor to ask of you, if I may. I know that you are eager to leave this place, and we can show you the way. AN din return...we were hoping that you could send us some assistance. We are more than willing to pay fo it, if necessary."

On cue, two Human guards steped through, each carryng a small bag. Setting them in front of Raven, they opened the top of the, letting them look at the load of precious stones within.

She looked at them again. "Hopefully, we can reach an agreement..."
