Subject: Sheer Cover & Jane Iredale Mineral Make Up

Heya all

As this is a new subject forum, let me start it off; again long overdue - about 4 years! The ASGiC rooms have certainly been busy and have changed a lot since they first started and I've been away for a long time too. Not many of you know me apart from the 'oldies' who still visit and I've also *retired* anyway from moderating and am concentrating on a life outside cyberspace (smiles).

Anyway I wanted to share a litle re Mineral Make Up. I found normal make up too cakey etc and saw an advert a few months ago for Sheer Cover Mineral Make Up on an infomercial; ordered it and it took a while (a couple of months I guess) to get used to wearing it and experimenting with the colour that matched my skin and also getting used to wearing a mineral make up powder base instead of foundation.

Rianne can testify to the numerous emails we sent each other where I thought I got the hang of it to only be disappointed again and then excited again and on and on and now I'm happy with Sheer Cover Mineral Make Up; though I thought it may be a little too expensive @ £19.99 per month which is like £60 for a 3 month supply and wanted to find out where I could just buy mineral make up online without a moisturiser and/or cleanser which is what Sheer Cover automatically comes with.

I did a search on the internet and came up with Jane Iredale Mineral Make up. I purchased a bit here and there over the net and was a little disappointed as I found the finishing base (only one colour) too pale for my skin. Tonite I went to a beauty saloon locally which stocked Jane Iredale Mineral Make up to see if they could choose the right colours for me but I found the beauty therapist too young and inexperienced and she kept putting the powder tests on her own skin which was really pale instead of mine - DOH!! I bought what I personally thought would suit my skin (suntan) and well we'll see what happens.

I did buy a watery base mineral foundation by Jane Iredale but it doesn't work properly ie when I use the pump, only clear foundation comes out instead of coloured. Perhaps it's early days yet just like Sheer Cover .... though it's an expensive way to learn ... at least with Sheer Cover I could return any colours that were unsuitable and got my money back; with Jane Iredale I can't and have already forked out over £200 (ouch)!!

I would be interested in anyone else's thoughts including for men out there and what they use particularly to help camouflage their flaws etc cos it must be hard for them.

Me with oily skin (and Rianne too) it's hard ... though Rianne did share a make up that she has recently discovered which helps her oily skin ... I'll post that later ... and/or let Rianne do so herself (smiles)

Take care
Just Me

I've been using Jane Iredale for the last two years and I think its terrific! I buy it directly from the supplier Landmark Distributors 0800-328-2467 or 0208-450-7111. They will send you tiny envelopes of the colours to try out. They will also provide you with a list of stockists in your area. I originally went to an aesthetician in Wigmore Street, London called Marti MacDaniel. I think she charged for the consultation as well as the powder, but some stockists probably don't. By the way, the distributor will send out samples of the loose powder (same shades as the pressed). However, I feel the lose powder has a more shiny/satin apperance that doesn't look that natural and I stick to the pressed powder which has a more matt finish.

Heya Lola!!

Thx for that! It really helps to know that I can get samples sent to me!!! And thanks for the tip on the matt instead of loose (which is what I got the other day (doh!). £200 was a lot of money to spend as it was so expensive; espcecially to just sit there. I only got about 5 products I think including one of the brushes; and the blush the girl recommended doesn't really suit me ... (grrrr)

Take care

Hi Just Me and Lola

I got sick of spending sooooo much money on Jane Iredale makeup!! (I love it though) - I went onto www.ebay.com and noticed that quite a few of the US ebayers were selling discounted (but fresh) Jane Iredale stuff. Anyway, I now buy from the States and even with postage, I only pay half the UK price.... :-) BTW, I am totally addicted to the 'Barely Rose' blush! Having see your photo Just Me, I think you might like that blush colour, as it seems to suit everyone with Asian skin tones.

I now buy almost all my stuff off ebay. It's a total God send!

Me again!

BTW, thought you might like to know. The ebayer in the US I bought the Jane Iredale makeup from - her email is: hpbeautysupplies@yahoo.com - I paid by paypal and it arrived 1 week later. She sells loads of other stuff too. It's all new, boxed stuff.

Just as an example, I bought the 'barely rose' blush for $22 (£13) ... I bought 4 items from her and the shipping was $10 - still a great saving n'est pas?

Heya Maya

Thanks for the tip on the ebay buyer and also Blush Rose blusher by Jane Iredale. I did buy some mineral foundation by Jane Iredale and will wait for that to finish before I fork out any more money ! I've spent so much this month already ! It is very expensive and seemingly more so than Sheer Cover mineral foundation which I've been using say 3-4 months.
