SOOOOOOOO tired of searching for products to fill in ice pick scars! -- T.E. (depressed), 23:13:16 07/01/08 Tue

I also am suffering the emotional trauma of not having the perfect complexion everyone wants.I have those dreadful ice pick scars on my face.I have tried researching everything from camoflauging makeup.(which I just received an order in the mail.I ordered a makeup that it called Derma Blend. It does cover beautifully,if your problem is uneven skin tone, freckles, redness, dark uner eye circles. But unfortunately,.....It wont hide the ice pick scars.Someone needs to invent a face primer and putty.I have it in my head,I just wish someone would run with it.On July 8th,I am going in for a procedure to help eliminate the ice pick scars. Its done at your dermatologists office. They call it punching. It is where they go in and actually level out the skins surface, but putting the skin back together with a stich. The scar from this procedure is supposed to be very minimal, and of course much less noticeable than a tiny hole in your face. And when its healed I can then cover any scarring with the Derma Blend makeup. It is fairly cheap compared to what other procedures cost.My Dr.is going to charge $70.00 for the first and then $20.00 for any after that.To me its well worth it.Just a little something for yall to think about.I will let you know how the end results are.Good luck guys!!

Hi dont let my email address fool you I am in Chicago, where can I get this procedure done? I am willing to go anywhere. The alternatives to this are dermabrasion and one women I knew had this done cost thousands and she did not heal quickly at all and did not leave her home for months! She said that the first 8 weeks she looked like hamburger! God can it be any worse? But your procedure sounds like worth a try. Thanks Gina

Hi Gina!Im sorry to hear you are going through the same thing. It is a tough thing to live with.I know. But girl, there IS hope! Finally!I got the procedure done and the results are unbelievably great!!I am so happy. It was so worth it.I just wish I would have known about this along time ago.I had the punches done on a Tuesday and by the following Monday the stitches were removed. It took about another week before they were totally healed up.I cant even tell I had any acne scarring!!This was definately worth it!I have to say,I did look a little scary when the stitches were in,and was really doubting that it was going to make any difference at all,but I was wrong.Thank God!All I can see now are tiny, and I mean tiny little red dots where there used to be unsightly holes in my face. Not only that but if you buy the camoflauge foundation you cant see anything at all!!I know in my last post I mentioned Dermablend makeup........but I have found another brand that works even better and it is the consistancy of any regular foundation and is non oily. The brand is Colortration. For $15.00 they will send you about seven sample colors so that you get the exact shade for your skin tone.Their website is www.colortration.com.I also wanted to mention that there are a couple of different punches that they offer. They have the one that I had done.....punch excision, and they have another where they actually take skin grafts from behind your ear.Try to avoid that one if you can. From what I understand it can make your skin look worse than before you started. The skin that they graft to your face can leave uneven skin and later need resurfacing(big bucks and alot of pain)and the grafted skin will likely not match the skin on your face.I of course dont know what your scars look like compared to the way mine was,but if you say you have the ice pick scars the procedure that I had done should work as well for you.Like I said in the last posting, you can go to your regular dermatologist to get it done.Check around on pricing though because some doctors charge more than others. My derm.gave me a great price and said he couldnt see charging me what some of his colleagues were charging.I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope that you will be able to get this done.It is a confidence booster.Well, well worth it.Take care Gina and let me know if you do get it done and how awesome you feel afterwords!Hope to hear from you soon.

Jane Iredale Makeup on Ebay -- Colleen (Beware of some sellers), 21:53:26 07/27/07 Fri

Two months ago I ordered some Jane Iredale makeup from a Canadian seller. I should have known better when I found out that she did not take payments via PayPal. Well, it's been two months now since she has cashed my personal check......and still no makeup. I have emailed her several times, but no response. Well, leason learned....and now I am passing that on to all of you.
If you want to know the person that I dealt with, please email me and I will send you her email so that you can beware also.

Other than that, I do have good luck on Ebay....it was just this once...I guess stuff like that happens once in a while.

Colleen

delivery me -- delivery me (delivery me), 23:12:44 09/28/06 Thu

I've just been letting everything happen without me lately, but oh well. I haven't been up to much these days. Today was a complete loss. Shrug. More or less nothing seems important, but such is life.

I think pop music, rock in particular, is way more about sex than classical music is. Much more directly, anyway. So it doesn't bother me there.

Has anyone tried

I'm always on the look-out for anything new and for me, prevention is better than cure!!!!

It would be fantastic to hear from anyone who has used the T LeClerc Tilluel make up. I'll do a search and see if they stock / supply to England ... cos the site says only US ... :(

Bare Minerals -- Dana, 05:22:29 04/20/04 Tue

Ok, Jane's make-up is expensive. Check out QVC.com and click on beauty then on the left hand column you will see the brand names. Click on Bare Essentuals (Bare Minerals) Not as expensive as Jane, but works great! I've been using it for 2 1/2 years now & love it. It lasts a really long time too. My last foundation purchase has lasted me over three months. Wonderful product!!!! No liquids at all:)

Hope everyone checks it out.

Dana

Are there any Topical Scar "fill in" products available? -- VANESSA, 09:05:51 04/21/04 Wed

I have a few ice pick scars and many scars made with a fat transfer needle by a Cosmetic surgeon...Long horrible story...please be warned...
(NEVER have Fat Transfer with needles...it only created MORE SCARS...!!!)

I was wondering if there are any topical products available (or homemade) to fill in these holes(scars) temporarily ...before one applies make-up..?

I usually fill these scars in with my make-up but it only makes them look worse...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....thank you ..Vanessa

Heya Vanessa

I'm still *learning* myself .... haven't tried this product though for what it's worth, here it is:

Laurea Mercier's Secret Camouflage
Secret Camouflage Application for Face
Always apply after foundation.
Pick up the product with the Secret Camouflage Brush by dragging across both pans, saturating both sides of the brush.

Using the back of your hand as a palette, use the brush to warm and mix the two colours until you find the shade that matches your skin tone. Secret Camouflage is a true "makeup artist's" formula so the more you work with the product the more easily you will be able to achieve perfect results.

Wipe off the excess product on a clean area of your hand to desaturate the brush and using feather-light strokes, apply Secret Camouflage to the darkened areas of the face - blemishes, shadows, scars, capillaries, the area around the nose, shadows under the bottom lip and any imperfections that the foundation does not cover.

After application, "pat" the product lightly with your fingertips and set with Translucent Loose Setting Powder using the Camouflage Powder Brush. Using translucent powder sets the product for all day wear.

Hopefully others will share if anything works for them ie re make up fillers (grins) as I'd certainly like to know!!!

Best
Just Me

Sheer Cover & Jane Iredale Mineral Make Up -- Just Me, 22:41:11 04/16/04 Fri

Heya all

As this is a new subject forum, let me start it off; again long overdue - about 4 years! The ASGiC rooms have certainly been busy and have changed a lot since they first started and I've been away for a long time too. Not many of you know me apart from the 'oldies' who still visit and I've also *retired* anyway from moderating and am concentrating on a life outside cyberspace (smiles).

Anyway I wanted to share a litle re Mineral Make Up. I found normal make up too cakey etc and saw an advert a few months ago for Sheer Cover Mineral Make Up on an infomercial; ordered it and it took a while (a couple of months I guess) to get used to wearing it and experimenting with the colour that matched my skin and also getting used to wearing a mineral make up powder base instead of foundation.

Rianne can testify to the numerous emails we sent each other where I thought I got the hang of it to only be disappointed again and then excited again and on and on and now I'm happy with Sheer Cover Mineral Make Up; though I thought it may be a little too expensive @ Ģ19.99 per month which is like Ģ60 for a 3 month supply and wanted to find out where I could just buy mineral make up online without a moisturiser and/or cleanser which is what Sheer Cover automatically comes with.

I did a search on the internet and came up with Jane Iredale Mineral Make up. I purchased a bit here and there over the net and was a little disappointed as I found the finishing base (only one colour) too pale for my skin. Tonite I went to a beauty saloon locally which stocked Jane Iredale Mineral Make up to see if they could choose the right colours for me but I found the beauty therapist too young and inexperienced and she kept putting the powder tests on her own skin which was really pale instead of mine - DOH!! I bought what I personally thought would suit my skin (suntan) and well we'll see what happens.

I did buy a watery base mineral foundation by Jane Iredale but it doesn't work properly ie when I use the pump, only clear foundation comes out instead of coloured. Perhaps it's early days yet just like Sheer Cover .... though it's an expensive way to learn ... at least with Sheer Cover I could return any colours that were unsuitable and got my money back; with Jane Iredale I can't and have already forked out over Ģ200 (ouch)!!

I would be interested in anyone else's thoughts including for men out there and what they use particularly to help camouflage their flaws etc cos it must be hard for them.

Me with oily skin (and Rianne too) it's hard ... though Rianne did share a make up that she has recently discovered which helps her oily skin ... I'll post that later ... and/or let Rianne do so herself (smiles)

Take care
Just Me

[> Re: Sheer Cover & Jane Iredale Mineral Make Up -- Lola, 09:40:03 04/17/04 Sat

I've been using Jane Iredale for the last two years and I think its terrific! I buy it directly from the supplier Landmark Distributors 0800-328-2467 or 0208-450-7111. They will send you tiny envelopes of the colours to try out. They will also provide you with a list of stockists in your area. I originally went to an aesthetician in Wigmore Street, London called Marti MacDaniel. I think she charged for the consultation as well as the powder, but some stockists probably don't. By the way, the distributor will send out samples of the loose powder (same shades as the pressed). However, I feel the lose powder has a more shiny/satin apperance that doesn't look that natural and I stick to the pressed powder which has a more matt finish.

Heya Lola!!

Thx for that! It really helps to know that I can get samples sent to me!!! And thanks for the tip on the matt instead of loose (which is what I got the other day (doh!). Ģ200 was a lot of money to spend as it was so expensive; espcecially to just sit there. I only got about 5 products I think including one of the brushes; and the blush the girl recommended doesn't really suit me ... (grrrr)

Take care

Hi Just Me and Lola

I got sick of spending sooooo much money on Jane Iredale makeup!! (I love it though) - I went onto www.ebay.com and noticed that quite a few of the US ebayers were selling discounted (but fresh) Jane Iredale stuff. Anyway, I now buy from the States and even with postage, I only pay half the UK price.... :-) BTW, I am totally addicted to the 'Barely Rose' blush! Having see your photo Just Me, I think you might like that blush colour, as it seems to suit everyone with Asian skin tones.

I now buy almost all my stuff off ebay. It's a total God send!

Me again!

BTW, thought you might like to know. The ebayer in the US I bought the Jane Iredale makeup from - her email is: hpbeautysupplies@yahoo.com - I paid by paypal and it arrived 1 week later. She sells loads of other stuff too. It's all new, boxed stuff.

Just as an example, I bought the 'barely rose' blush for $22 (Ģ13) ... I bought 4 items from her and the shipping was $10 - still a great saving n'est pas?

Heya Maya

Thanks for the tip on the ebay buyer and also Blush Rose blusher by Jane Iredale. I did buy some mineral foundation by Jane Iredale and will wait for that to finish before I fork out any more money ! I've spent so much this month already ! It is very expensive and seemingly more so than Sheer Cover mineral foundation which I've been using say 3-4 months.
