Cute Michael.

I'm here; I check this all the time but I don't know what to post about.

Oh here you go . . .

How do prayers work in your world? Or do they?

Discuss.

no, prayers aren't really a part of my belief system, though I suppose they might work as a focusing device.

If I believed in an all knowing God I don't think I'd have to point my thoughts at him like an email or a telephone call. As self delusional as folks are (myself included probably) I'd probably be lying in the prayer anyway and God would know and then I could be in trouble. That wouldn't be a good thing, gettin' on God's bad side.

If I didn't believe in an all knowing God, what would be the point of asking favors of the ether?

I'm waitin' for enough evidence one way or another to be able to have a point of view about a creator and an afterlife and all such things. I think the world as it is demonstrates intelligent design indicating the existance of a creator but beyond that I dunno. A God that knows when every sparrow falls or the Great Scientist that set the experiment in motion and is just lettin' the thing cook off and give Him some results?

I figger when its time to find the answers, the answers will be convenient to hand. Thats some of that intelligent design idea.

I think the Buddha probably had some right ideas about a body being perfect in himself but I think the kharma thing is off the beam. It seems a contradiction that I am perfect in myself but I can acquire a kharmic debt by my actions which are inherently perfectly me. By the way, this "perfection" doesn't mean a person is the archetype of anything except himself. Being perfect in me means I'm supposed to be as tall and fat and stupid as I am because its who I am. If I get skinnier or smarter or older or balder, that's as it should be too.

I suspect Yahweh was right about "an eye for an eye" and Jesus was right about "turn the other cheek", each in particular context of course.

...

Hey, that got to be a pretty good rant.
