Hmmm, where to start. . .not that my life has been exciting or anything. Mostly health related stuff - I was planning to have a hysterectomy in July but, guess what, you can't just go to the doctor anymore and say, "I want a hysterectomy." and get one. No, now they have to justify it by running bunches of tests - let's see - I had blood taken, urine test, ct scan of my abdoment, ultrasound in my uterus, endometrial biopsy, a d and c, and a hysteroscopy. All but the last two things were to determine if I had cancer in my uterus. Everything came up clean and clear but the doctors still sent me to a gynocological oncologist. The d and c and hysteroscopy was about ten days ago and I've heard nothing from them since. I came through the procedure very well, with no pain or discomfort of any kind except the lingering after effects of the anesthetic.

It's been hot here this summer and worse, humid. I gardened early but then I haven't done much in the yard since. We (all the family members from Ponca City and Ashley from Tulsa) went to Ruidoso for a four-day visit (actually two days were spent coming and going) with Mike, Edie and their kids. That was fun, especially after we got there. The trip to and fro wasn't bad but I said once years ago that I'd never do another quicky and I should have stuck to that decision. But, as I said, we had a really good time there.

I've had a little typing work and I've done some painting but mostly I've spent my time reading mysteries and some non-fiction. And that's about it. I will be going to K.C. for Haley's wedding Sept. 1. And then, hopefully, it will be fall and cooler and I can do stuff outside. I know Beth hates fall and winter but as I've gotten older and less tolerant of the heat, I have come to enjoy fall and early winter. I still don't like snow except for watching it come down, then it can melt.

I had hoped to travel with a friend to NM again this fall but things haven't worked out so well in that direction. Now we're planning to go in the spring. I love NM! Especially the northern part.

Guess that's all the update I have. Join in everyone, let's catch up. Don't have a subject to discuss but if someone comes up with something, I'm sure I'll have an opinion! Love to all of you, Mom

Sorry for the lack of communication. I've been pre-occupied, irritable, busy, etcetera.

Enough with excuses tho'.

For updates, I returned home last night (9/22/05) from Philadelphia where I went for a user's group conference. My school district uses a software suite from a company called Pentamation and I got drafted to go. Dumbass decision since I maintain the computers the software runs on but I don't use the system at all. In any case Philadelphia was great. I'm lobbying for a vacation there next summer. I caught a cold the day before I left so I was semi-miserable the whole time but I managed to see some landmarks and attend the conference anyway. The conference turned out to be less useless than I imagined because they did have a little bit of technical stuff.

Gretchen is matriculating as usual in College Station and is likely to see the tail end of Hurricane Rita, though she's far enough inland and high enough above sea level that she shouldn't have much problem. Stormy weekend tho'. She's doing well in her Junior year and last week she went to a job fair and investigated internships. She'll likely end up taking one in Dallas, Austin, Houston or San Antonio as that's where the majority of the openings are. The internship will be for next summer most likely.

Jacob's fall break starts this weekend so he's off school for two weeks. He seems to be taking school a little more seriously as a senior and so far still intends to try engineering as a course of study in college. I expect he'll try to get into A&M or go to UTEP. He still doesn't have the car he's been wanting but I expect we will eventually find one he can work on. The current plan is for him to get a car and fix it up and then when he's got it in sufficiently good condition swap it for my Hyundai. That will appease Edie's over protective inclinations (the Hyundai has front and side airbags). Currently Jacob is cruising along, not doin' much different than he has been, just skating and hangin' out with his Cat (His girlfriend).

Edie spent the week I was gone to Philadelphia working, going horseback riding, catching the cold I shared with her before I left and calling me for tech support when our internet connection was down at the house. She's very busy all the time working on Marketing plans, advertising, store displays, coordinating events and so on. She seems to be really liking all the work too, except for dealing with the occasional jerk that is inevitable in a job like hers.

Since this is still the number one topic here, I shall update again. Because I'm up at 5:42 a.m. and bored. So I'm sharing the boredom.

Anyway . . .

Haley is all married and apparently very happy. She writes incredible things on her xanga, you should check that out if you haven't been. www.xanga.com/onee She is moving back to Chicago in four months. I was upset at first, but then I realized that means I'll be visiting her and Monroe IN CHICAGO. I love it there. I am spending forever in the Art Institute next time. And seeing Oprah! Of course I wish Haley would live closer to me, but I don't know if they ever will.

Josh is actually LIKING school. It's a miracle. He is going to the alternative center, which, as I explained before I think, has smaller classes and no homework, or not much anyway. We were supposed to try and get him into this thing called the SHARE program at Vo-Tech, whereupon you do all your work on the computer in the morning and then learn a vocation in the afternoon, but he said the other day that he thought he might want to just stay at the alt. center the whole time because he liked it. I just about fell off my chair.

Josh's favorite thing to do lately seems to be jumping out and scaring the bejeebers out of me. I have no bejeebers left at this point. I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack the other night when he did that; I'm thinking I need to go get a defibrillator and keep it handy. He, of course, thought it was just hilarious.

Work is the same, except my friend Teri is leaving and I hate that. That means more work for me, no one fun to talk to and I have to get used to someone new all over again. My boss was gone yesterday and since it was Friday and Teri is not into working right now, we spent a good long time looking at guys on a singles site for her. She likes the biker look, apparently.

I would have been looking for me too, but I already met a guy. Not Jeff, he is permanently installed in the friend zone . . . this is a new guy, and I like him a lot. A lot a lot a lot. His name is John, he lives in Enid, and he has a little girl who is almost 10. He's very wordy and artistic and a deep thinker; all very good things . . . I won't go on about him right now, but I think he may fit in well with the family; we shall see. We're just being friends until my stupid divorce is final, whenever that will be . . . well, "special" friends . . . I'm not explaining what that means, but it's probably not what you think it is. Perverts.

That is all.
