I wrote to Rina this afternoon to apologise because Barbara had suggested that she was not here any more, but Rina has asked me to make my apology public, so here is the email:

Dear Rina
I want to write and apologise for the way I have talked to you online. I have been talking to my partner about how ashamed I feel about the way I can talk to people online, when there is no way I would be so rude or unkind to them in real life.

Fundamentally, I think there is something about the internet that can make you feel almost like people are not real and the dissociation can bring out the bad side of me.

There is no doubt that you and I see life very differently and that if ever we are in a debate, I am quite likely to take an opposing view, but there are far better ways of doing it than the way I have behaved.

I may have hurt you too badly for you to feel I can change, so I won't be impertinent enough to ask you for forgiveness. But I will promise that if you ever come back to the JAW site or if ever we meet anywhere else, I will show you only the side of me that does not make me ashamed.

I apologise; I am sorry.
