In reply to: Barbara 's message, "FDC clothing allowance" on 24/06/10 6:29:11pm

I'm not entirely sure, a lot of sisters had home made, second hand or charity shop clothing, like I say I'm
not sure, but didn't they say the same amount of cloth as rationing in the second world war, I would like to say unlimited, but I know
that not to be true, so whatever happened, it would be rationed, you said yourself noel said no more than forty quid a year spent on clothing, soay e you'd have forty quid worth of cloth, including rubber for
shoes.

The idea of the ja was honourable, but the practicalities were never doable, i'm surprised its lasted this
long

>People used to get cloth off the FDC to make dresses
>and skirts. Does anyone know how much they were
>allowed every year?
