He really was the most conceited and arrogant churchman I have ever come across...and I have come across a fair few. I never liked him, let alone loved him.

In fact, I always find myself surprised that people claim to have loved him because I always thought he was an insufferable bully.

In my day he was referred to as the prophet and was regarded as infallible. If what you believed the bible was saying didn't fit with what Noel preached, your interpretation was plain wrong.

Even now you cannot get away with saying that anything he taught was wrong. I tried it on the JA's forum and they refused to host my posting. Back then I claimed that Noel had taught that if those who left would backslide into apostasy (without imagining for a moment that anyone would challenge my recollection - EVERYONE KNEW IT) but Tschaka said I was accusing the JA of heresy. Well, perhaps I was.

Eventually, after asking around, he came back to me and admitted that some older members had confirmed that that had been the belief in those days; he didn't go as far as to admit that it must have come from Noel, but where else did Jesus Fellowship belief come from, but from Noel?
