Okay everyone, we've had our fun but lets remember the purpose of this board. This is for Faire complaints.
I've archived the old messages so if you want a laugh read the archives.

Re: Admin reminder -- Mike, 11:52:02 10/10/02 Thu
From a poster's perspective, I think the complaints board is shaping up to be a failed experiment. Since its inception I have yet to see a serious complaint posted (hence the never-ending stream of yuk-filled posts from Frank, Ryan, etc.).
The whole complaintfest got carried away in the first place because
A) too many people failed to post a real name, giving the pro-KRF side a reason (or perhaps excuse) to accuse the posters of being former KRF folks who were just trying to cause problems. Whether that was indeed the case is unprovable unless Stacy Ann violates her justly self-imposed state of neutrality and reveals the identities of said posters.
B) honestly, some of the folks who posted in defense of KRF were way too thin skinned. Some of the comments were poorly stated and in some cases nothing more than cruel digs made without constructive intent, granted, but not all of them were. Some folks took everything from "I can't afford the faire" to "I didn't see much street work" as a personal slap in the face and did not deal with legitimate, well-stated, justfiable criticisms with anything resembling professionalism. Kudos to those relatively few who did take what was said and dealt with it well. I never begrudge anyone for taking pride in their work, but pride should not blind one to legitimate problems.
Finally, I heard that part of the reason this forum was established was because Stacy Ann was catching heat from posters as if the whole mess were her fault. I'll be blunt: anyone who accused Stacy Ann of being a causal factor in the recent message board brouhaha needs to pull their head out of their ass. Stacy Ann has been the most neutral person involved in this and should not be catching grief from anyone.
Mike
PS: Frank and Ryan are both weenies.

In defense of this board, I understand how Stacey Ann must feel. And Mike, you should know what can happen when someone upsets the powers that be. I would hate for that to happen to someone who is simply giving us a place to discuss things. We know the lengths to which some will go to punish rable rousers. And I don't see what's wrong with spicing things with humor. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.
At least Amy did post some things she doesn't like about the Faire, no matter who trivial and mean spirited some may find them (that's what we love about her).
Oh, you know what I hate, people who say ATM machine. Like "I need to get some money from the ATM Machine". ATM stands for Automatic Teller Machine. So they are saying Atomatic Teller Machine Machine??? That's so stupid. I hate that!!!! I hate it!!!!!!
And there is an ATM at KRF so that does apply!

I have been a lurker here since the beginning. I rarely post but I have to say this. I personally hate PC but understand that StacyAnn didn't want the heat. I really enjoyed the postings here, they were funny and enjoyable. They weren't hurting anyone and stayed here and not on the board where you didn't want any conflicts. So exactly what is the harm if all the "hate" is here?? People just like to blow off steam and have fun so why not just let them? Just a thought.

Something I'm missing here.... -- Synn, 16:01:48 10/10/02 Thu
...Maybe I missed a memo or something, but...if Stacey Ann was getting heat for the negative postings on the other board, won't the same knuckleheads give her heat for this board?
Also, I went to the Topsfield Fair yesterday. I hate screaming carnies trying to hawk their rigged little games. Can I complain about fairs here, or is this just to complain about faires?:)

It's a simpson's reference--Homer and Bart screw something up at a carnival, and the carnies end up squatting in their house...I fergit how it all went down, but they informed Homer--with suitably sinster voice--that he had broken the Carnie Code...

Re: Admin reminder -- StacyAnn, 16:41:37 10/10/02 Thu
1st there were 2 seperate threads which started this whole shebang..
In 1 thread the IP addresses did vary a lot,
in the other I don't recall.
In one of the threads a few people posted that they blamed the forum ( thus in my eyes blaming me ).
To be truthful the negative threads were impacting me personally.. The current setup was the best solution based upon my previous test ( It seemed that No one wanted a place where they had to register)
I don't mind a few funny posts to lighten things up..
but this shouldn't be lets make a joke of this.
(Thats not funny - especially to me. )
I am thinking of a yahoo group with a few of the regulars as moderators ( along with me )

StacyAnn
Have you been receiving complaints about the posts here, too?
Mike is right-people are way too thin-skinned- if you don't like a thread here or find it in bad taste or whatever- do what they are doing -use your wits -be funny -battle humor with humor.
As for me, and from the many comments at the Conn. Faire about this board -they love the funny stuff
I also must disagree with most of the comments here- I think that the parodies here speak volumes of criticism , especially against the current uber-sensitive, lack of humor many have shown as well as the pointless pretensions and ridiculous self-seriousness of some posters. I guess the shit runs down-since Bonnie et al have shown so little humor about anything-it follows that parody must also suffer.
So all you Mrs. Teasdales, the humor is aimed at YOU.
i think this new board is a freakin' riot.-even some of the stuff I didn't write

Re: Admin reminder -- Mike, 08:24:49 10/11/02 Fri
I think I speak for all the witicism-tossing yahoos on the complaint board when I say no one is aiming any of this goofiness at you, Stacy Ann, nor is it meant as a sign of disrespect. Everyone (or at least everyone who takes a minute to stop and think) realizes that you started and maintain these boards as a service to the ren faire community, and anyone who aims their bile and contempt at you is, to be blunt, a thoughtless dick.
But speaking for myself now, it's hard to take the concept of the complaint board seriously, despite its intentions (which I do understand, FYI). All it seems to be (to me) is a place where all the shit-flinging that took place on the main board can continue but those people who don't wish to deal with it can easily turn a blind eye to it. This board strikes me as the on-line equivalent of The Land of Misfit Toys crossed with The Cone of Silence; the so-called "anti-KRFers" are here because they're not welcome with the "normal" posters, and they're speaking but the only people who hear them are themselves.
I understand not wanting to have the finger of accusation pointing at one's self, but I can't honestly call a separate board a viable solution. All it takes is for one person to post a complaint and for one person to respond and it all starts anew, and I imagine the same jackoffs who gave our gracious message board hostess grief before will do so again should such circumstances come to pass, assuming they deign to sully their mouse button fingers by clicking on the link to get here...
But that's only my opinion, and the decision to continue this board or discontinue it is ultimately up to the higher power, so to speak...

Re: Admin reminder -- Ira, 11:03:52 10/11/02 Fri
I agree completely with Mike and Dave. I thought this board was part of the problem not the solution, people should have a place to honestly criticize and offer opinions. Critisism is a primary vehicle from which improvement is derived. No one likes to be criticized but when my boss, director, producer or anyone in authority tells me they don't like the way I do things I don't fly off the handle and yell, "but I work so hard at it".
Just because you work hard at it doesn't mean you don't suck (no offense meant to anyone). By the way, the utlimate authority is the customer.
I thought many of the postings on this board were hilarious. When I visited the other board I selected which threads I wanted to read, thus acting as my own censor.
The purpose of all this is to Educate, Inform and Entertain, is that being lost by hypersensitive, managment crony types who do not have the guts to name themeselves? Has it escaped everyone's notice how this board played right into their evil, censorship plans. They got what they wanted, no more negativity, "Always with the negative vibes", (what movie is that from?). How many people who find The NE Rennie board even notice the "complaint" link never mind clicking on it. But by the same token I have not seen many positive comments either. In all fairness another board should have been created where only praise would be allowed, but I'm afraid it would be a lonely place.

Re: Admin reminder -- Cliff, 12:02:23 10/11/02 Fri
Thanks again Stacyann for hosting the board(s). I can see how this board ended up being omething different from it'd original intent. I'm sure no one meant any disrespect to you. So I guess if any of us has anything negative to say, we'll just have to keep it amongst those we know will listen, if not agree. Sucks.

Ty Cliff - but this is easy to do...
(The hard part is trying to find someone to take care of the boards when I go on vacation )
Again I don't mind SOME funnies mixed with the complaints.
