Subject: Preterism

I read your page on Preterism

http://users3.ev1.net/~billprice/defined_lie_of_preterism.htm

The first sentence speaks volumes about the entire page and conclusions drawn. It is obvious that you have just recently become aware of it. It is also obvious that you need to study it further.

1)Preterists do not deny the reality of Jesus' physical resurrection. Scripture does not give us much in the way of detail as to the nature of Christ' body but it was you must admit different from the one prior to his death.

For more info on this see the following:
http://www.preterist.org/articles-old/gentry/resurrection_errors.htm

2)Preterists do not deny any part of the Gospel. In fact Preterists are the only ones (and I do mean only ones) that take the Lord and the Apostles at their word with respect to the timing and nature of the second coming. Jesus' physical/Literal miracles served to confirm the reality and truth of his spirtual accomplishments. See Matthew 9:1-8

3)"They make the whole Bible a simply spiritual matter, and nothing, not one part, literal." This statement is at best a blatant mischaracterization and at worst a flat out lie with regard to preterism. As a matter of fact Preterists use the Destruction of Jerusalem and the events associated with it to show that Jesus and the Apostles were absolutely inspired in all they said and did. The literal and physical events that occured at that time served to confirm the things in the unseen realm which are not subject to historical verification.

4)"we have no hope of a real resurrection" What would you rather have "hope of something yet future" or "the reality of that which was hoped for". The "resurrection" and by that I mean being brought back into fellowship with God from Spiritual death is the "resurrection" that we currently enjoy today that the first century believer did not have. "Resurrection" in the scriptures has a much broader meaning than most people are inclined to admit. The death that Adam gave us was spiritual death. The death the Jesus overcame was spiritual death.

Preterists(in general)believe that you will receive your glorified spiritual body at your death. This is something the O.T. believers did not have because their redemption was not yet complete.

In conclusion this was not meant to be a detailed refutation of your page. If you would like to learn more I would suggest that you study the information on the following websites:

www.preteristarchive.com
www.preterist.org
http://www.eschatology.org

I would also suggest that you pick up a copy of "The Parousia" written by James Stuart Russell available at the www.planetpreterist.com bookstore.

I cannot describe how angry I was to read your page on Preterism and labeling us heretics and suggesting that we have even lost our salvation. This displays a level of
arrogance and ignorance that I find astonishing. I am very much in opposition to your teachings on the subject of eschatology but I would never dream of suggesting that you were not saved becuase of what you believe about such subjects.

Regards,

Christopher C. King
