Thank you for your letter, and sorry about not responding sooner...
I have not heard of anything that would cause your Chinchillas ears to "feel thin".
It might be good to note that animals are much like people in their ailments and so forth. You might consider taking the Chinchilla to a vet. The only thing I can think of is to make sure your Chin has plenty of water to drink and a good staple diet of Chinchilla pellets and timothy grass (hay).
