No, I do not agree with that.

"The great guru encouraged his various students to adhere to the good traditional discipline of their own faith. Stressing the all-inclusive nature of Kriya as a practical technique of liberation, Lahiri Mahasaya then gave his chelas liberty to express their lives in conformance with environment and up bringing.

"A Moslem should perform his namaj worship four times daily," the master pointed out. "Four times daily a Hindu should sit in meditation. A Christian should go down on his knees four times daily, praying to God and then reading the Bible."

From Autobiography of a Yogi chapter 35. Notice that Lahiri Mahasaya approved of the outward aspects of religion. It was never the kriya yoga tradition to regard all religion as some form of mental entrapment.

The main teaching of SRF is the importance of meditation techniques, and the central teaching method revolves around the SRF lessons. This was the way it was when P Yogananda was still living physically.

Things such as temples and church services and meetings are useful to many people, but they are not meant to replace meditation. I have never seen it suggested in any SRF publication that the external aspects of religion are more important than the inward seeking in meditation.

I have also never seen it suggested that anyone should have "blind faith" in anything. Just the opposite in fact, the whole point is to provide people with the means of gaining genuine experience of their own and not have to simply accept a belief system as is the case with some religions.
