Lama Yeshe was one of the first Tibetan Lamas to teach Westerners, which due to cultural conditionings was a huge taboo back then. He chose not to get his geshe degree, much to the chagrin of many around him. The geshe teaches in a more formal way and Yeshe wanted tehe dharma to be more accessible for his students. When asked why he didn't go for the geshe degree, he would say "why, so I could be geshe yeshe!"

Humor good,

k
