Walters did not have "pneumonia". Pneumonia is an severe upper respiratory tract infection, which induces great fatique and shortness of breath, especially in the elderly. For a 78 year old man to talk for 80 minutes while supposedly suffering from such a disease is doubtful. Why can't Ananda be honest, and just admit he didn't want to go back to be arrested? Now he's struck a deal with the locals, and all is evidently set for his safe return. As usual, he let his "friends" take the heat.
Besides, I know someone who called an Ananda center soon after the arrests, who was told Walters WAS NOT SICK...but just rather it wouldn't be "wise" for him to return to Italy "just now".
