I never claimed to know exactly what the letters were talking about. But a short look at them is sufficient to state that they obviously differ from what Shibendu teaches in several points.

I do not see sense in the debate at all. Lahiri Mahasaya as you say is said to have taught Kriya differently to different people. That was more than a century ago. It is only natural if by now not more than some of the core ingredients have survived the ravages of time. No objection to this. No one knows what exactly Lahiri taught.

Students of Shibendu sticking to what he teaches them will perhaps attain to what he represents. I am not at issue with Shibendu anymore. I wish him well and his students all the best and a speedy path to realization. Apparently a number of them thrive well under his tutorship.

One question remains: If the letters were never meant to be shared, why did Ananda Mohan Lahiri publish them at all? If he wanted to set things right, he ought to have published a treatise of his own rather than just publish, without detailed comment, anonymous letters written to different disciples. So what was his purpose?

Hendrik
