"Strange? If you understand the "Indian" way then you know how important it is for Indians to validate the authenticity of a Guru, given the many pretenders who are out just to make some money and the importance of a Guru in their spiritual quest."

I do understand. And the Indian way of authenticating Gurus isn't through some special board or Grand Arbiter. It's done by the people. If a Guru is authentic, over time the people will seek him out. If he's a fake, given time the people will find out. The Shankaracharya being the final Arbiter isn't an answer in my opinion. Shankaracharyas aren't always chosen based on realization.

"Yes, and thanks, I agree with Ketch on this and do discriminate between Yogacharyas and the others. The existence of the Yogacharya title enables folks easily to authenticate these as authorized by Yogandanandaji; as you say, the others are subject to varying interpretation."

Yoganandaji authorized several people to give Kriya who weren't Yogacharyas. The Yogacharya title is different, I believe.

"The discriminating approach I refer to above is itself the Grand Arbiter."

And I do respect your right to choose the Grand Arbiter approach that's to your liking. There are others, though. And on that I do agree to disagree.....

And I do appreciate the discussion.

I am curious about some things, especially from Ketch. I've answered many, many questions here. Now I have a few myself- simply because I want to learn more about how and why others approach this subject.

Why do you practice Kriya Yoga?

Do you have any objective proof that Kriya Yoga has any benefits?

Do you have any objective proof that one Kriya path/style/family is better than another?

If your own experience of the results of Kriya practice was in extreme disagreement with what you have been told by others, would you reject your own experience?

Because this thread has gone on so long, and is getting buried on my browser, I've posted these questions as a new thread above: Who Are You Following ? Continued..
