Your explanation is unacceptable. Paramahansa Yogananda was one such person who would never use the words guru and disciple lightly. He was always very particular about those two words, sometimes writing lengthy essays about what guru means and what disciple means.

I think when he said that Satyananda was his disciple, he really meant disciple and not just some organizational subordinate.

Also, I see that reference to Satyananda as "disciple" was taken out of the
next edition of that book. Perhaps taken out because Paramhansa became aware that perhaps westerners were misunderstanding. ( we can only speculate)

You can speculate all you want but those who are familiar with SRF history knows that at that time Paramahansaji and Satyananda already had a falling-out, and that's the reason behind the change.
