Further to the discussion of whether the additional "a" is evidence of forgery, I remember Bro. Mokshananda freely admitting in the 70s that the "a" was added after the Shankacharya had told SRF that "Paramhansa" was not correct. As I recall, Mokshananda said something to the effect of: "Yes, we changed the spelling. It's not a big deal in that there was no attempt at cover up. We simply accepted the advice of the Shankacharya."

If anything, it seems that SRF might have erred in not being more upfront with the public admission of the reasons for the change when it was made, rather than waiting until publishing the "First Edition" version of Whispers in 1981. Beyond that, though, I can't get too excited about this issue; at worst, I see that SRF made a public relations blunder, and that's about all.

(I don't know where that yellow emoticon thingy comes from; I didn't insert it. Kinda cute, though).
