The point is that we are discussing ways of being sure that someone looking to learn Kriya can verify the authenticity of what they are being taught.

Your earlier statement "(example: washing dishes as an offering to the Divine can be a wonderful kriya)" may be true, but someone looking to learn Kriya would be very disappointed if all their acharya could teach them was how to wash dishes.

I reject the claim that all sadhana is equal. I am not saying that attitude is unimportant or that there are not other factors to take into account. However that does not alter the fact that the practice of Kriya Yoga and deep meditation is a more effective sadhana than washing dishes.

In the same way, it may be that the authentic Kriya as taught by Lahiri Mahasaya or it's legitimate variations as taught by P Yogananda, are more effective than some of the things being offered in the name of Kriya Yoga.
