"He is ambitious, no doubt, but he may be a well-meaning person nevertheless, and a valuable teacher and preserver of the Yogananda Kriya tradition."

Actually, this is the major beef I have with Kriyananda - I don't think he is preserving the Yogananda Kriya tradition at all. From what I have heard he/Ananda is teaching nahbi Kriya which was never taught by Paramhansaji. Apparently Kriyananda learned the technique while travelling in India from another Kriya line. They (Kriyananda/Ananda) are also putting a lot of emphasis on Kechari, which from all accounts that I have heard, Yogananda never taught to Kriyananda. Now some people may consider these small things but I don't. My opinion is that Ananda/Kriyananda are emphasizing Kechari and Nahbi to mislead people into believing that Ananda (and not SRF) has the true Kriya as Yogananda intended to be taught when in fact the exact opposite is true.
