I am no expert in any way but as a common man and former Kriyaban will add my two cents, for what it is worth.

What you describe sounds like blocked chakras. Your Kriya practice apparently arouses some Kundalini-related energies that are hitting those spots, meet resistance there and are redirected to other parts of the body where they create intense sensations; the burning and itching also speaks for that.

I experienced most of the sensations you describe myself in the presence of Shibendu Lahiri, but there they seem to have been intended. Luckily they subsided after a week. Frankly I do not know whether this phenomenon was a sign of his spiritual power or if he was himself a victim of clogged chakras. Besides that, he indeed acknowledged that Kriya can produce quite painful effects.

In the past I have read a number of reports on Kundalini experiences. Experiences like yours are usually mentioned in the context of a prematurely aroused Kundalini. Only, what you describes seems only a mild pre-stage of more drastic things to come.

I tell you something. The question is what price you are willing to pay. Continuance of Kriya in your condition may bring about anything ranging from suicide to self-realization. Who can guarantee?

As an unqualified observer from outside I would urge you to slow down the process you are going through if it is too uncomfortable. The question is not to stop sadhana altogether, but to make it bearable.

Pranayama is potentially dangerous, and Kriya Yoga is a pranayama-based technique. If your system reacts unfavourably to it, it can finish you off even if you are the sanest person on earth. I recommend a thorough inner purification and contact with an authoritative living teacher before meddling with any uncontrollable occult energies. How this purification can be brought about and where there are such teachers I don't know.

The SRF monks are church functionaries and no gurus and IMO hence totally unqualified in giving advice in those energy matters. Doctors and psychologists also know less than nothing. If you want support and qualified advice, look for an advanced yogi, inside or (preferably) outside the Kriya tradition.

Hendrik
