I used to have the SRF book "Rajarsi Janakananda: A Great Western Yogi", the expanded version, which is still available from SRF. In it are published some of PY's letters to Rajarsi. If I still had it I could post it for you here but I dont so you will have to find it elsewhere.

In one of the letters he talks about meditating in the cabin of the ship that took him back to America. He slipped into some kind of state and saw the horrible cat-like figure of Satan drop onto him and try to pull his astral body from his physical one, attempting to sever it from the physical so as to cut short his mission on earth, knowing he would still accomplish much good in America and solidify his legacy.

At that moment he caught a glimpse of the ochre robe of Sri Yukteswarji (who had already attained mahasamadhi): "Look what Satan is doing unto thee!" said Sri Yukteswarji and he banished Satan on the spot.

This is just my opinion but I believe Satan's attack was made possible because PY had not been able to acquire the 9 jewelled Navaratna (astrological bangle) that was worn by Sri Yukteswarji and which was stolen from his deceased form while PY had been out of the ashram. Sri Yukteswarji had intended that it go to PY for his protection but Satan managed to get it stolen by influencing someone in the ashram to do so.
