Thank you for your reply. I cant really comment further on this because I am not in a position to know the truth of the matter. I am not an Avatar so I dont truly know the qualifications of being one. All I know is that I believe the words of my guru over those of Ramanuja or any other person in this matter. I do not think Yogananda modified the Hindu concept of Avatar to suit his own needs. On the contrary, I think he gave the true Hindu definition of what Avatar is.

I would further caution you not to be so insistent about something you believe but have no actual realization of (just as I believe on point of view over another, but I cannot claim to know for sure). You can subscribe to one definition or point of view over another, but in the end you cannot know the answer unless and until you either meet an Avatar who explains it to you or become one. Until then you must remain humbly open-minded over such things. Only humility and openness to truth allows wisdom to reveal itself in you.
