RAMFIFICATIONS OF KRIYA YOGA

Dear friends,

I have got one question in mind that is hunting me very much. From the published books on Kriya Yoga, I have find that there is a lot of variations in Kriya Yoga. Techniques, no. of practice of different techniques, time of practice also varies from lineage to lineage. Hereby I am giving a summary of Kriya variations as per my knowledge-

Lineage, Sri Kriya Techinques
Shris Mukherjee/ Ashoke Chatterjee/ Satyacharn Lahiri / Swami Satyananda (a disciple of Swami Yukteswar Giri Maharaj) etc. 1. Talabya 2. Kriya praynam- mental3. Kriya pranayam – proper4. Navikriya5. Yonimudra6. Mahamudra
Paramhansa Yogananda (a disciple of Swami Yukteswar Giri Maharaj) / YSS 1. Ham – Sa2. Om Technique (Listening to inner sound)3. Kriya Proper4. Yoni mudra5. Mahamudra
Paramhansa Hariharananda (a disciple of Swami Yukteswar Giri Maharaj and His Disciples 1. Pranam technique2. Listening to inner sound3. Mental pranayam4. Mahamudra5. Kriya proper6. Parabastha7. Yoni mudra
Bijoy Dasgupta (Founder of Kriyatmika group, a disciple of Swami Yukteswar Giri Maharaj) 1. Mahamudra2. Asana3. Mental Pranayam4. Kriya Proper5. Dhyana6. Yonimudra

Lineage, Sri Kriya Techinques
Kashi and some other lineage 1. Mental kriya2. Kriya proper3. Navi kriya4. Mahamudra5. Yoni mudra

From the above table it is clear that Kriya has got a lot of variations in technique and practice. Even Kriya proper techniques also varies from lineage to lineage. My question is, as the Kriya is propagated from Lahiri Mhasaya only, why there is so variations present in it? There is a lot of variations in Kriya techniques present amongst the disciples of Sri Yukteswar Giri Maharaj also. Please let me know why it is so?

With regards,

Kallol Bhattacharyya.
