I didn't think the same sexiness was played up for ratings at all, it was all very tasteful and kept to the theme of being/knowing oneself.

I'm so glad Joss stuck it out with the FOX execs and made Zoe and Wash a married couple. It's fascinating to get this tension of married couples in a semi-serious (serious on Serenity, not so serious during the torture!) way that both respects marriage and the bond of soldiers. I love this triangle, especially as the love between Wash and Zoe is quite tangible and the trust and loyalty between Mal and Zoe is electrifying. The way Zoe immediately chose Wash to rescue, the way she barely flinched when Nische cut off Mal's ear, that look she and Mal shared... I love a good, powerful friendship. I'm so glad Joss went out of his way to show that this will not be a romantic triangle. Mal and Zoe are comrade in arms, but have no sexual tension. Love it!

Yeah, and River is just damn scary! Love how she turned Kaylee's cute victory cheer into something downright creepy! Talk about female empowerment in this ep! And I'm quite interested in the fact that both Book and Nische quote from Shun Yu, the insane dictator. Makes you kinda wonder, y'know?

Kaylee is adorable, Jayne is gross and hilarious, Inara is lovely, Simon tried to shoot at people, and Mal didn't break under torture. How much do I love this show? Let me count the ways...
