I don't know what the hell those fuck-ups at FOX were thinking. Oh, actually, I think I do...

"Sure the pilot is brilliant and rife with character development and philosophical depth galore...but it doesn't dumb itself down enough for the audience that we know isn't intelligent enough to handle anything smarter than 'American Idol.' Oh, um, sure they're clever enough to get all the 'Simpsons' jokes but we clearly can't trust them to sit through two hours of sci-fi that takes itself seriously and doesn't involve aliens or cool ray guns! First episode? Bah! Who needs to really know who all the main characters are right away? Let's just drop the audience right in the middle of the story. They'll never know the difference. They wouldn't be smart enough to figure it out if we showed them the first episode anyway. And ya know what we could do to really fuck with them? Shuffle the episode order around! They'll never know what hit them! And you need to preempt for Baseball? Sure, go ahead! If 'Firefly' goes over our heads, we certainly can't allow the audience the chance to get it!"

Fuck FOX!!! FUCK!!!!!!!
