Fascinating, I think you are right about all of it.

I believe in "Bushwhacked" the Alliance interogator establishes with Book that Persephone is where the preacher shipped on with Serenity, and also where the Alliance lost track of Simon and River. So probably we will be seeing it again when we get the back story of our remaining crew. Also makes Wash and Zoe's comments of finding the skyline familiar more sensical.
