First, the duel scene reminded me of Ridley Scott's _The Duelists_, what with the out-matched opponents and the mist rising up and all.

Second, Wing's blade had about four inches on Mal's. Bad for Mal, good for Wing. And my thought is, if any man can loan him a weapon, and it's a duel-based society, why couldn't Mal find a matching blade, or more specifically, why didn't Wing have a matched blade for his opponent?

Easy answer: Wing's a cheating prig. Taunt, feint, embarass: the marks of a bully. Also the fingerprints on Inara's upper arm = bully.

So hey-ho with the bell guard to the face! When Mal pounced on Wing's distracted glance at Inara, I cheered -- take THAT for a vain booby!
