I don't know if you were being facetious about not having heard of Happy Gilmore, but it's not the worst of Adam Sandler's films -- though I share a similar assessment of most of his films.

Regardless, if you check out the Firefly website, you'll notice that the show will be on hiatus not only next week, but the week after that. 11/29 features The Brady Bunch in the Whitehouse -- now that's one I haven't heard of.

From the two spoilery sources I read, Wanda from E!Online says that the outlook for Firefly is less than peachy. Of more specific detail, Ain't It Cool News says that Fox is making the decision whether or not to finish the season early next week.

There are 3 episodes for Firefly scheduled in December. You can find these at their website and elsewhere, of which the last one is "Serenity," the original pilot.

If you're interested, I found this page of Nielsen ratings for the show. I don't know how much faith you put in these ratings or how much you feel that a shows cancellability is correlated with these ratings, but more information generally can't hurt you. I'll warn you though that those numbers are um... not too happy either.

I think UPN actually might be more prone to pick up Firefly should Fox drop it because they recently just put Haunted (which follows Buffy) on a hiatus of undetermined length. Of course, that is a horribly competitive time slot I hear.

  • There's a special level of hell relegated for FOX network execs, I swear! Take Firefly, UPN, please! (NT) -- Rob, 22:26:26 11/15/02 Fri
